Hastings United Football Club – Bulletin August 2023
Welcome to the August Bulletin from Hastings United FC
Team News – Mens
It has been a brilliant start to the new era at Hastings United, with a very warm welcome from everyone associated to the club.
I have been very lucky to inherit some brilliant people and professionals, and wanting to continue the clubs tradition of promoting our own HUFC staff and coaches, so promoting Ben Cornelius to First Team Coach to get continuity from the academy and provide that pathway was imperative, add Bobbi Deegan to lead on all aspects of Performance, we have two brilliant coaches who know the club inside out.
We have done very well with recruitment and are very pleased to have attracted the calibre of player we have both with a good level of experience from leagues above, combined with some very exciting players from various levels, who we feel can flourish at Hastings United and help us achieve collective and individual success along the way.
We are two weeks away from the start of the Isthmian League season, and are very much excited to get going and playing in front of the Pilot Field faithful. – Paul Barnes, Manager
Team News – Womens
I can’t speak highly enough of the players throughout pre-season so far. The players that are still with us from last season, joined us this summer, and those that are returning to the club after time away have brought great intensity, shown brilliant leadership and fully committed to the direction the club is heading.
The Women’s First Team has changed since last season’s success, but the aim hasn’t shifted. I, as well as everybody else, in the team are focused on achieving great things at Hastings United. The work has started, and we want to share this journey with as many of you as possible so get down to Pilot Field and get behind the players! – Tom Young, Manager
Thanks to Tom Chalmers for his recent video message and it is good to hear that Tom has begun light training as part of his recovery programme. We join Tom in thanking everyone for their good wishes and the many donations received.
The Isthmian League will not be running an under 23 League for the 2023-24 season. However, it is the intention of the Club to continue some bespoke under 23 games and fixtures will be announced in the usual way.
HUFC Women’s team will play their League and Cup games at the Continental Pilot Field for the 2023-24 season. The team was awarded the Division One South Sportsmanship Award 2022 – 23 by the London & South East Regional W.F.L.
