Hastings United secure point against Faversham Town to win the league

Sharing is caring!

Marcus Elliott’s 22nd minute goal looks to put the bubbly on ice for another week until Sam Hasler scores just before half time.

Hastings United started the game brightly, however it would be a bit of a miskick between Louis Rogers and Tom Chalmers where the hosts are able to capitalize and score with Marcus Elliott able to slot under the keeper and put the hosts 1-0 up.

After a break in play due to a head injury the `U`s find themselves in space running towards goal when Ben Pope is brought down, after the ref has cleared the players, Sam Hasler slots the free kick into the bottom right corner.

After half time Faversham and Hastings United muster few chances and with slick defending the visitors are able to see out the game 1-1 to secure the needed point to become champions of the Isthmian League South East.

As the referee blows for the final whistle the visiting staff, directors and fans descend on the pitch for the celebrations.

CEO Billy Wood shares his elation “This is just the start, 3 years in the making and we can’t wait to be in the premier next season”.

The trophy presentation looks to be set for Saturday 16th April at home against VCD.
