Hastings United are delighted to announce forward Ben Pope has agreed terms for the 2021/22 season.
Pope, The ‘U’s most prolific goalscorer over the past two seasons will be staying on at The TGS Pilot Field adding to the announcements so far of Ollie Black, Gary Elphick and Jack Dixon.
Ben Pope: “When the gaffer come back to me asking me to re-sign it was an easy decision. The improvement and confidence Chris and his staff have given me as a player couldn’t be better, the whole group we have had over the last couple of years is the best I’ve been with and I couldn’t say no to being part of it. I can’t wait to get going again on the mission we’ve set out to do for the last two seasons.”
Chris Agutter (Manager): “Popey has spearheaded our attack for the last two seasons, he leads from the front giving the team a brilliant focal point whilst being a natural goalscorer. When you couple his ability with his infectious personality and grit it makes him such an important member of the team. In my opinion we have the best centre forward at this level and we are proud to have him.”
Billy Wood (CEO): “It’s great that we have retained another important member of a squad full to the brim with winning mentality. A proper old school centre forward who does a lot of the hard work leading that line. I won’t be shocked if he gets another 25 goals next season in our team as we look to secure a promotion we have worked tirelessly on.”
