We are delighted that former West Ham United Women’s player, Sophie Reed has agreed terms and will be joining us for the 2020/21 season.

Sophie, who joined West Ham in 2005 at the age of 11 represented the club at all levels, captaining the development team for two seasons and also playing in the FA Women’s Premier League. Sophie, who can play both centrally in defence or midfield brings leadership and experience as we build the first squad of the new women’s revolution at The Pilot Field.

Sophie Reed on her joining the ‘U’s, “I am really looking forward to being involved in the fantastic new set up at Hastings United. The club’s passion to succeed, drive the women’s game forward and to provide a pathway for young females in the area made it an easy decision to join the ‘U’s. I can’t wait to put my boots back on and hopefully with my experience help the team to achieve a successful first season.”

Amy Sinden, Head Coach said, “This is another big addition to building our squad. Sophie is a leader and she will give us a huge amount of experience on the field, plus guidance and support to our young girls and their development. Sophie will be a big part of this club and we are delighted to be able to secure such an experienced player. Welcome to the Pilot Field Sophie Reed!”

Billy Wood, CEO added, “Another signing of quality that continue to aid towards our recruitment here at the ‘U’s. Sophie brings a lot of experience and with many local ladies applying for trials adding these sort of experienced players at the early stages will give those new, maybe less experienced players a bit more support on and off the pitch. The trial date will be announced in the coming days and we have had a great amount of applicants, this shows women’s football in Hastings is getting back on track and we are excited to get going. Sophie, welcome to Hastings and we are delighted to have you with us.”
