AB1 Golden gloves award-January 2020

Sharing is caring!

Golden Gloves Awards of the new decade-big congrats to our Louis who takes the title home for the South Division!

Here are the winners of the first Golden Gloves Awards of the new decade, sponsored by AB1 Goalkeeping

Another month over, another collection of mean defences to be recognised. Who had the best backlines of January?

Premier Division

For the second month in a row we’re off to the South Coast, and heading up Woodside Road. With thirteen points from fifteen in January, Worthing soared to the top of the table. Bognor Regis Town, Merstham, Brightlingsea Regent and Cheshunt were defeated, Eas Thurrock United escaped with a goalless draw, fourteen goals were scored, and only one was conceded. On that basis it’s no surprise that our congratulations go out to Carl Rushworth and his almost-impermeable defence.

North Division

We’ve already sent plaudits to Chadfields courtesy of Tilbury’s magnificent January, but we’re going to do it again! Unbeaten in five matches and conceding only three goals, Harry Aldridge and his defence are the rocks upon which the Dockers success has been built.

Congrats go to Harry and those in front of him!

South Central Division

Once more the side that picked up the Manager of the Month award also has the best defence- so we’re back on Larges Lane and sending congratulations to Bracknell Town.

Four league matches played and three clean sheets- only Ashford Town found their way through the Robins rearguard, and they still left with nothing. Given there was more than one goalkeeper during this period, we’ll leave the Robins to decide who gets the golden gloves!

South East Division

Given Hastings United concede so few goals that they have the best defensive record in the South East Division- and the second best in the entire League- we might as well just post them a season’s supply of new gloves and cut out the middleman! January saw six league matches, four clean sheets, and only three goals conceded, so it’s no surprise that our golden gloves are heading once more to the Pilot Field.

Congratulations to Louis Rogers and his fabulous rearguard!
