Hastings Opportunity Area is running a series of career days on Monday 26th November for Year 10 and 11 students. Where they will be delivering the sport and physical activity day at Horntye Park from 10am-1pm.
As part of the event, they will be running a speed-dating style workshop, where students can spend 5 minutes in small groups talking to a wide range of professionals who work in sport, physical activity or health promotion about their role. They will then have a careers marketplace where the students can choose to go back and find out more about the roles they were most interested in.
In order for this to be a success they will need a wide range of professionals to take part and are keen to open up the young people’s eyes to the variety of sport/physical careers open to them including coaching, sport science, health promotion, sports photography, marketing, sports therapies and any other related careers that you can think of.
The speed dating event will take place from 11 am- approximately 12 pm depending on the number of students that sign up for the day. The marketplace will then run until 1 pm. There will then be the opportunity to network with other partners at the event.
If you work in the sports industry and are able to come along to the event and talk to the students about your role, it would be greatly appreciated. There is a small pot of money to cover expenses for those people who are self-employed or will reduce their earnings by attending, so please contact activehastings@hastings.gov.uk to discuss further if you are able to attend.
