The Club can announce the signing of former Margate and Maidstone Utd GK Tommy Taylor from Bostik South East side East Grinstead. The young stopper has been brought in to provide cover and competition for ‘U’s No1 Charlie Horlock.
On signing Tommy explained, ‘There are many reasons for joining Hastings United, starting with their style of play-they play very attractive, modern passing football and everyone works hard for each other which is essential in any team to be successful. Even though I’ve only just joined, I can tell there is a great sense of togetherness between, not just the team but everyone involved at the Club. Another reason I’ve joined is because the management staff…..the club is run very professionally so fair play to Chris and Browny and everyone involved for making that happen, a final plus is having a Goalkeeper Coach in John McCrae who wants to push me and work me hard which is rare to come by at this level. Thank you to Chris for signing me and I look forward to my time at this great Club.’
The Gaffer added, ‘I’ve been aware of Tommy for a couple of years, he first caught my eye when he was between the sticks at Maidstone Utd within their Academy programme….he’s a modern keeper who fits the profile of what’s required of a GK at Hastings United, add to that his fantastic personality and work ethic means you’ve got a kid with huge potential who in time will be a No1 at a very good level. Tommy will initially provide cover but in time will challenge Charlie. Really pleased to welcome Tommy to the Club-another young and hungry player who is ambitious.’
As well as Tommy’s incoming we can also confirm that Louis Rogers and Ansu Janneh have both been released by the Club, we wish both players all the best and thank them for there respective contributions to Hastings United!
