Tom Climpson is the latest U to re-sign for the 2018-19 season.
Climpson commented, ‘Extremely happy to be part of this team again for another season. As a local lad, it’s a great accomplishment to play for your local team so to be playing again for another year makes me proud. Looking forward to another strong season this year with a great bunch of lads.’
Manager Chris Agutter said, ‘delighted that Tom wants to stay, he’s local, loves the Club, a leader and is honest, these traits on top of an already fine young defender who still has plenty of room for improvement make for another good bit of summer business for the Club. I’m looking at our squad and see competition for places across the board, nobody’s status within the starting lineup come Saturday the 11th of August is assured. We are still talking to potential players, whilst having 4 open trials coming up in the middle of June-this clearly indicates that we are continually looking to improve-however what I will say Is if the season started tomorrow I would be very comfortable picking a team from the 21 players already agreed.’
On his speed transfer dealings Agutter added, ‘Hastings United being able to get so much early business done is down to the planning that has been going on since Christmas, myself, the staff, the Director of Football Dean White and Chairman Dave Nessling have all worked and continue to work very hard to ensure we can piece together a very competitive squad-it’s a collective effort and one that all parties deserve credit for.’
