Hastings United Football Club were delighted to host at the Pilot Field last Sunday the Hastings United Veterans v Tottenham Hotspur Legends charity football match in aid of the Conquest Hospital MRI Scanner Appeal. A great crowd of In excess of 2000 people attended the match on a sunny afternoon that saw the Hastings United Veterans team run out winners by 5 goals to 2.
The football club are very pleased that some £20,000 was raised for the scanner appeal and would like to thank Jo Nesbit the Events & Fundraising Co-ordinater for the Hastings United Sports & Social Club for all the hard work she put in to see that the event proved a success. Also to all the volunteer and other staff that saw the event proceed professionally and safely throughout the day. In addition of course the event would not have taken place without the players and management of the two teams so thank you to all connected with Tottenham Hotspur Legends and Hastings United Veterans.
After the match there was a function for VIP ticket holders at the Hastings United Social Club at which an auction of memorabilia was held with monies generated contributing to the overall scanner appeal funds raised. Also the Tottenham Hotspur Legends players mixed with VIP ticket holders, sponsors and other guests. Hastings United Football Club would like to thank all companies and individuals who provided any sort of event sponsorship in any way.
The football club hopes that the visit to the Pilot Field by so many people might result in some new fans returning to watch Hastings United matches.
