The Club are delighted to advise that the Academy U/14s won the Sussex C.P.Mason Cup today at the Sussex County FA HQ at Lancing beating Bognor Regis Town by 4 goals to 1.
Congratulations to the team and coaching staff Adam Hurley and Ben Cornelius. The U14s are also still in contention to win their Kent Youth League title as they currently sit in third place with games in hand on the top two
Today’s cup win is the second piece of cup silverware accrued by the Academy this season with opportunities of more silverware to come with the U15s playing a Sussex final at 6.30pm next Sundày evening at Lancing with the same team also in contention for the Kent Youth League U15 title. They are currently in second place and play leaders Kennington at the Pilot Field at 7.30pm this coming Wednesday evening.
Overall the Club’s Academy, under the managing and watchful eye of Skiltek, continues to go from strength to strength which is just what the Club requires.
It was a great occasion for the players and there was a great atmosphere created by the spectators.
The boys have been superb this season and deserve to be champions of Sussex.
Bognor were fantastic opponents, the first few minutes started evenly, it was only after the first goal that Hastings took control.
Going in 3-0 up at half time meant the players’ nerves had settled and second half they kept possession of the ball and managed the game well. Two terrific saves from Craddock in the second half meant the game stayed well in Hastings control.
